Where Is HGTV’s New Show ‘Rico To The Rescue’ Filmed?

HGTV’s New Show, Rico to the Rescue, Premieres January 7

We can’t get enough of a few types of TV shows: Real Housewives spinoffs, cooking competitions, and almost anything on HGTV. These comfort shows keep us returning for more, and HGTV’s newest addition is no exception. Rico to the Rescue is set to premiere on January 7, making it the perfect show to cozy up with on a winter night.

What Is Rico to the Rescue About?

Rico to the Rescue follows construction and home renovation expert Rico León as he steps in to help homeowners recover from disastrous contractor issues. Whether unfinished work or renovation projects gone awry, Rico is there to mediate, problem-solve, and get things back on track.

Where Was Rico to the Rescue Filmed?

The series in Denver, Colorado, showcases projects across the Mile High City. While the show focuses on helping Denver homeowners, Rico’s mission is to educate viewers nationwide on what to look for in a contractor to avoid renovation mishaps.

Rico’s top tip for hiring a contractor? “Ask for three references from the contractor you’re considering, call those references, and request photos of the work they completed in their homes,” he told HGTV. “It’s all about doing your due diligence.”

Meet Rico León

Originally from Pittsburgh, Rico León was headed to California when his car broke down in Denver. He fell in love with the city and decided to stay, and now he’s making waves as HGTV’s first Latinx host.

Rico began his career at a plumbing company before becoming a construction consultant, real estate agent, and entrepreneur. In addition to running his own business, he collaborates with companies like DaVinci Realty and Goat Development Group. He also owns a restoration company and a production studio, balancing all these ventures with his role on Rico to the Rescue.

Rico’s Mission

As someone who has personally lost money to bad contractors, Rico is passionate about helping others avoid the same mistakes. He uses his own experiences to mediate disputes between contractors and homeowners, often bringing in legal experts to navigate challenging situations.

“On the show, I take what I’ve learned from my situations and help mediate between the contractor and the homeowner,” Rico shared with HGTV. “We meet with lawyers, show you how to break contracts, and explore solutions without going legal. I come to the rescue.”

Rico’s goal is to educate homeowners on what to do in every type of renovation scenario and to create real solutions that benefit both homeowners and contractors. “That’s my new ‘why,’” he said.
