DENVER (KDVR) — A local builder is getting national attention for his HGTV show, “Rico to the Rescue,” which premiered in January 2023. The show highlights his work in emergency restoration and construction, offering a blend of professional expertise and raw, honest truth.

Leon’s journey to Denver began unexpectedly when his car broke down on the way to California for a new job. Stranded, he decided to make Denver his home, leading to a thriving career in home renovation and restoration.

Known for his straightforward approach, León challenges unrealistic expectations in the construction industry. “Everyone’s a salesperson right now,” he explains, pushing back against overpromised and underdelivered projects.

Growing up in a strict home in Pittsburgh shaped León’s strong work ethic. His Hispanic roots continue to inspire his work and position him as a proud Latino host on HGTV.

“People are like, ‘hey, you’re representing us man, make sure you do a good job!’ and I’m like, ‘yeah, don’t worry about it.’ Like, I got this.” – Rico León

While León has received calls to renovate homes across the country, he remains rooted in Denver. “There’s a huge amount of people that need help even outside of Denver,” he notes. “But Denver will always be my home base.”

The season finale of “Rico to the Rescue” airs this Saturday at 7 p.m. local time on HGTV, showcasing more of León’s transformative work.
